BUMPING OUT

Well, it's all over including the shouting.  The last performance, the last award, the last party, the last laughs, and the last drinks!
We've all been thrilled with the fabulous audience feedback and wonderful reviews.
If you came to the show - THANK YOU - for supporting your local Arts and your local community.  If you missed the show.....bad luck to you!!  You missed a bewdy.

Here are just a couple of the comments that came through by email .... and a few closing photos.  See you at the next production!

Hi Maureen
Just home from the show which we really enjoyed - what a hoot!!!  But you must be exhausted having to be Kate as well as everything else you do.  Hope Kathryn will be ok and that you survive the next week!!
Thought Lou had her role covered with great aplomb and couldn't take our eyes off Ange and Susan especially when they were out front - there was no lapse in their acting, they were great and Kevin enjoyed Susan flirting with him!!!  And Grant's get up from singlet and pecs to gold earrings - wo!

".............. we enjoyed the show very much despite the heat (the heat was why we disappeared so soon after). It was sharp, pithy and entertaining and uniformly excellent. You were great in the lead role under trying circumstances at short notice (and you disguised your prompt notes brilliantly). It seems that someone told your lead to “break a leg” and she took it literally. We were quite fascinated by your Miriam Margolyes look alike. She added an interesting touch without saying a word. We will fill Peter in about it and he will be pleased.
Many thanks for a memorable matinee"

[long long one,  trimmed back a bit} ".. I have to be honest and say that I expected something quite amateurish, . I was actually really impressed and thoroughly enjoyed it. . It was way more professional than I expected - but then when you told us afterwards about the experience of Maureen and some of the cast members, that’s not surprising. I can’t think of anything that didn’t quite hit the mark. The show from beginning to end went smoothly and the music was entertaining, the songs were tuneful and the connection between the performers contagious. I was so impressed that everyone learnt all the words and didn’t need prompting! I am even wondering if anyone videoed the whole show so that we might be able to watch it again?.......more...."

  Hi Maureen
Just home after being at the performance this afternoon with two friends.  What Fun! We really enjoyed and could see that the cast did too. Seeing former Principal Gerry Vero was a treat....she played the part so well.....must have had lots of practice! Lol! I always enjoy working with her in days past!
Shame the leading lady had to be replaced....but what a stand-in!
Allinall a great afternoon's entertainment!

Traditional Greeting goes awry

The traditional greeting for thespians is "break a leg" .....in this case it was taken literally!!
Look what happened to one of our leading ladies just before our 2nd weekend:

Now, all over the theatre world there are understudy/s champing at the bit for their big chance to 'star'........
in this case, I think the understudy wailed louder than the star!!
But in true theatre tradition, the show must go on.  And it did, with writer/director/producer Maureen O'Brien stepping into the role with a day's notice.  Thanks to a good strong and capable cast who carried her.

Last weekend coming up - so if you haven't seen a performance yet, you are seriously missing out on a great show!   Audiences are LOVING it .....and the opening review was a winner - you can see it here: http://www.theherald.com.au/story/3778360/reviews-thunderbelly-death-and-the-maiden/
Tickets are available at  www.ticketebo.com.au/thunderbelly - just $25 show only OR......why not treat yourself to a scrumptious 3-course dinner/show package for a mere $50pp

OPENING WEEKEND

" Great night last night...loved the show, loved the meal, and the attention to detail overall.  We had a ball - everyone impressed.  GREAT WORK!!!"
"what a great show!  Thanks!  and the music was fabulous"
"I LOVED the characters ....er, any chance I could get the Tarts' number?"   lol!!!
"we loved it! it was so much fun ...and the cast looked like they were having fun!"

That pretty much sums up the comments from the opening weekend.

Awonderful cast delivered the full 9yards on both Friday and Saturday nights - no director could have asked for better.

And our audiences CAME prepared to have fun ....dinner guests getting into the spirit too.
Enjoy some of the photo's taken over the weekend!  if it looks like fun....it WAS.

Tick Tick Tick.....

The clock's ticking! Opening night is just a couple of breaths away!
Gosh, it's been so frantically busy since we started back into rehearsals in January, that there's been little time to keep the Blog updated.....but if you're connected up on facebook, you'll have been getting all the tidbits there!

This is our Set Director - Matthew [on the left] and our spare hands Shane.  They've been beavering away building, painting, shaping, re-shaping - and in this heat, sweating up a river!

Matthew has had to come up with some creative ways to use the space - with such a large cast and 3 scenes running concurrently, his challenges have been no small toast.  But here's a man who's always up to the challenge!  Meanwhile, Shane had to do some research to make a unique prop - he's now worried that the AFP may come knocking on his door to question him about illegal firearms!!
first dress rehearsal

I've loved the way that so many of the local community have lent a hand - from the local folk club who lent us their lights when our Lighting Director pulled out and we were unable to locate another at short notice.   And the theatre group who let us borrow a smoke gadget.  Another theatre group who help with a costume piece we struggled to find.  And someone who gave us a rare costume piece that we'd never have found! Individual friends and contacts who've been coming up with the myriad of costume and set inclusions that create Community THEATRE!

If you haven't got your tickets yet go here .... www.ticketebo.com.au/thunderbelly ..... and don't forget the Bootleg Dinner on Saturday night is a 3-course meal [BYO] plus show for just $50pp - what fabulous value!

Prohibition Style

BOOTLEG DINNER ...on the 3 Saturday nights of the Season Run you can book [if you're quick] for a 3-course dinner/show ticket.
Now of course, we're in the 1920's and booze is illegal isn't it?  But a 3-course dinner without a glass of wine?!?!?!  Really?!?!  shhhhhh ...smuggle it in and we won't tell!
But be careful!
The Prohibition Police will no doubt be on patrol.  However, palms will be greased and the PPP will turn a blind eye for DINERS only.
The same cannot be said tho' for show-only ticket holders on these nights - non-diners who attempt to smuggle in their illicit, sly grog will face the full wrath of the PPP and be frog-marched into the back lane for 'rehabilitation'.

**For those who are keen to get into the Swing,  wear your 20's outfits and add to the fun of the night!
